2012 cabernet sauvignon

Caldwell Vineyard - Coombsville

The 2012 Sire, tasted in 2020, 8 years later is still showing its youth and power. Typical of Coombsville, the wine is built around a massive tannin texture, refined and well integrated. The wine has not changed much since we bottled it. The core is layered and textured with depth and creaminess. Black fruit and licorice are starting to soften up to reveal a beautiful bright red fruit, Ripe and balanced. The 2012 is barely starting to change as it finishes its first decade. A good omen for the years to come and definitely cellar worthy.

2013 cabernet sauvignon

Houyi Vineyard

A near perfect vintage with the right balance between warmth, cool nights and no major excesses from Mother Nature. 2013 brought an exhuberent nose of dark red and blackberries. Thick texture, dense but elegant and balanced tannins. The wine has been aromatically expressive since the first days of fermentation. That quality has been steady and consistent during aging and in the first years of bottle aging showing the consistency of this vintage. The wine is textured, velvety, elegant with finishes on a floral nose following the lengthy texture of purple fruit. The 100% new French oak integrates perfectly in the texture to support the dramatic fruit expression.

Houyi Vineyard

2014 being a drier year, wines are darker, oilier and more reserved. Definitively, a sleeper that will continue to develop, but is now already showing its big structure and hints of purple fruit. The wine is black and dark, elegantly textured in its austere youth. Black olive, spices, tobacco, dark cocoa, with hints of vanilla and cigar leaf. Letting off an elegantly aromatic red and blueberry fruit that's starting to express itself.

2015 cabernet sauvignon

Houyi Vineyard

2015 was one of the warmest years on Pritchard Hill. The terroir absorbed the excesses of Mother Nature and delivered a very balanced wine that has kept on building over time. There is a dark, fresh, ripe and lush nose. The mouth has velvety seamless tannins that support a fluid but dense texture, with elegant acidity and ripe red fruits. The 100% new French oak is perfectly integrated bringing a note of spice to this very ripe mouth. The wine is dense and has a long lingering finish, a signature of the seductive vintage 2015.

2017 cabernet sauvignon

Diamond Mountain

The 2017 Diamond Mountain Sire is produced from a single block of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (Clone 337), on the Coyote Ridge of Diamond Mountain. A heavily rocky soil with high altitude and eastern exposure. The density of rocks translate in the wine… in that black deep rich texture. The morning exposure translate in aromatic tones of blue black fruit layered with liquorice. The vineyard block surroundings are reflected in under layers of sage/spice/torréfaction notes. Texture is seamlessly carried by an acidity within the layers. The wine has black aromatics and structure typical of the 337 clone, and reinforced by the 100% new French oak aging.

2018 cabernet sauvignon

Houyi Vineyard

The 2018 Houyi Vineyard Cabernet has a massive structure. The wine is black, dark and massive with intense layers. Very concentrated with a core of fruit surrounded by tannins. Very dark blackcurrant, wild blackberry, spices, sage and layers of fine ripe red fruit. Tannins are compact and tight, harmonious together and showing youth and aging potential. The oak tannins are fully integrated and adds to the spice’s expression in the texture.

2021 cabernet sauvignon

Sleeping Lady Vineyard

"Classic to the Sleeping Lady Vineyard, the 2021 vintage delivers power and elegance in a silky texture. The structure is supported by a nice backbone of melted acidity. Delicate red fruits, black currant and spices on the finish from the 100% new French oak aging... adding a tad of structure while leaving plenty of expression to the fruit. The mid-mouth is layered in purple and dark blackberry. Definitely a wine that will rival the best vintages in age-ability. Necessary decanting time now, but this bottle expresses the vintage already in detail."
